Henry's First Memory

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Henry and Eleanor obviously remember things; however, they had never directly mentioned something that had occurred earlier.

Until Monday afternoon.

Henry was sitting on my lap as we were enjoying a video chat with Grandma. I was telling her about Friday’s trip to the zoo, and listing all the animals we saw, when the following exchange happened:

Me: ...And we saw a bear, too. Henry, do you remember seeing the bear?

Henry: Bear. Poop.

Me: Wait, what? Dude, do you actually remember that?

Henry: Poop. Bear. Nap.

Yes, folks, we had indeed spent time gazing at a polar bear who was napping in the sunshine and who, as we were parting ways, backed up to the “please don’t jump over this and eat us” crevasse right in front of us and took a big ol’ dump. What a memory!

Said bear of "Poop. Bear. Nap." fame
