We Are Family...

Today the babies and I had fun hanging out with our cousin, Marcy. Henry in particular is quite enamored with her and always has been. As an infant he would do this silly eyebrow-wiggling at her, and today he gave her a big hug and a snuggle as she got ready to leave. I enjoyed getting to hang out with a non-toddler in the middle of the day. Instead of watching Elmo and reading Hop on Pop for the gazillionth time, I got to do nice, normal grown-up things, like stalking people on MySpace.

Marcy popped back home for a while this afternoon, and hoo-boy, should she be grateful that she did, because Henry and Eleanor turned into demon spawn for a few hours. I wouldn’t let Eleanor get into the trash can, which resulted in a 15-minute-long sobbing fit. Henry wanted me to put a pair of pants on his head (don’t ask; he pretends they’re hats). If Henry could talk, our exchange would have gone like this:

Henry: (hands Mommy pants) Put these on my head!

Mommy: (puts pants on Henry's head)

Henry: NO NO NO DEAR GOD WOMAN WHY DID YOU DO THAT GET THESE PANTS OF MY HEAD THIS INSTANT!

Mommy: (removes pants)

Henry: HEY WHERE DID MY PANTS GO RETURN THEM TO ME RIGHT NOW YOU EVIL WOMAN!

Mommy: (rolls eyes, looks at clock and wonders if it’s too early to drink)

Of course, by the time Andy got home from work and Marcy returned Henry and Eleanor were back to their charming selves. We all played on the driveway, and the babies got some bonus snuggles from Marcy before bedtime. It’s so nice to finally have some family in town!
