My (not)Martha Moment

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

It was a gorgeous day, perfect weather that had Henry pointing at the sky exclaiming “blue,” so the twins and I spent three lovely hours outside this afternoon. I was excited to reveal my newest creation for them, a new sandbox made from an under-the-bed storage box. I was feeling very Martha Stewart, and decided to snap photos of every step of the way—set out two milk crates, top with storage box, fill with sand, add toys—and post a cute little “look at me I’m clever!” how-to on the blog.

Except that I’m not Martha, and didn’t notice that I had my fancypants camera set on some manual-adjustment setting, and therefore all my how-to photos got way too overexposed, like we were outside playing in the midst of some horrible solar flare disaster.

Definitely NOT a good thing.

Luckily I finally noticed my mistake, and was able to capture some other moments of our afternoon in the sun.

That's a great idea. I may follow suit, Martha, as T has been digging up my flower beds.

Is that sand green?

The green sand is by Crayola. It comes in other colors, too, if you're in the mood for blue or purple or red sand. It was all Walmart had in stock and I was too lazy to drive down to Lowe's to buy sand-colored sand. Perhaps we'll call it our Spartan sand!
