O Christmas Tree

We used the last of our long weekend to put up the Christmas tree tonight. Henry and Eleanor have been excited over all things Christmas lately, and the tree was no exception. Both kids chattered happily about the tree, Eleanor jumping up and down with excitement.

There were some ooh, wows over the lights, and the kids had fun getting the ornaments out and trying to hang them on the branches. We have a nice concentration of ornaments on the lower foot or so of the tree, the finest of toddler decorating. Henry and Eleanor didn’t quite grasp the concept of “the ornaments are just to look at, not toys” so it might be a challenge to keep the tree from being constantly redecorated.

Tonight, after stories and before bed, the kids wanted “to look at the tree.” They took in the glow of the lights, and I could feel my Scrooge-ness melting away.
